108 Days of Yoga - Day 80

Bead 80. March 21st, 2013

Meditation today along with volunteer work running the meditation study group. Doing some yoga stretches at the gym earlier I spotted two others doing pigeon pose in the mat work area. We are not alone at the gym :)

108 Days of Yoga - Days 77 - 78

Beads 77-78. March 18-19th, 2013

Yoga practice in my office on Monday and power flow with Jolene today. Getting back up and running after March break. I did notice that my hamstrings are loosening up a bit more in janu sirsasana today and other than that practice is rolling along. I have been continuing to read from Chogyam Trungpa's collected works, with greater ease now that I have my first ever pair of reading glasses. Namaste.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 76

Bead 76. March 17th, 2013

Practiced this am before everyone was up. Its still cold so I had to get the heater going. I practiced a kind of eight limbed approach including asana, pranayam and meditation at the end. Feels like a wholesome start to the day. Enjoy your day everyone.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 75

Bead 75. March 16th, 2013

Yoga at the gym again today. I noticed that the material they make the track out of at the Canada Games Centre makes a good yoga mat. Did some mindful stretches and asanas and come inversions along the wall by the track. Its a more peaceful and spacious area to stretch and breath than the weight room. It is possible to make the best of it in different environments but some are definitely more conducive to practice than others.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 73

Bead 73. March 14th, 2013.

Yoga in a hotel room. Sun salutations, standing poses, arm balances and meditation. Nice way to wind down after laser tag, rollercoasters, mini golf and arcade games. I noticed that the hotel room can be like an oasis of calm in comparison to the so-called Crystal Palace. From a tantric perspective the sacred world is all around and there is ultimately there is no need for retreat because the present moment is indetructible and always pure. Let me go back to the indoor amusement park and see if I can hold that perspective....

108 Days of Yoga - Day 72

Bead 72. March 13th, 2013.

Meditation today. A short potent sit with a friend right before hitting the climbing gym with three kids. Yoga today was about staying rooted in meditation and also at the bottom of a tall wall of people climbing and relying on you to be present and keep from them falling 30 feet. And so it goes with yoga during March break.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 71

Bead 71. March 12th, 2013.

"If you lose your mind, come back."

I was thinking about how this is like meditation. Your mind wanders off the meditation object and then you have to bring it back, gradually training it with patience. Today I was thinking of skipping class, which I will call distraction from this meditation, and caught myslef. I had to check some schedule issues, yet with a little affort I was able to make class. Back to the breath. In Shambhala they have a saying "If you lose your mind, come back." I think this applies here.
