Introduction to Meditation workshop (5-week series)

This workshop is for the beginning meditator.  It will provide you a good overview and insight into meditation practice as well as many guided meditation sessions. This workshop will help you to learn how to establish and sustain a daily meditation practice. Seated, reclining, standing and walking meditations among others will be covered during the workshop.

Helen Fong has been practicing meditation for many years. She has received extensive training at the Shambala centre among others.

No prior or experience in meditation is required to come and benefit from this workshop.

Course outline
These aspects of meditation will be covered over the five weeks:

  • meditation and the breath
  • meditation and the body
  • meditation and the emotions
  • meditation and the thinking
  • meditation and the mind
  • meditation and daily life

Session outline

Each session will start with a brief 15 minute asana practice.
This will be followed by  training on a particular aspect of meditation.

Cost: The workshop will cost $50 for the five weeks. We need a minimum of 8 people in order for this workshop to proceed.

The Instructor:

Helen Fong is a Certified Hatha Yoga Teacher and Certified Laughter Yoga Leader who has been leading laughter yoga since 2009. Inspired by her guru Satpal Sodhi, she started a laughter yoga club with her friends Diana and Heather at the Keshen Goodman Library since February 2012. This laughter yoga monthly is now one of the most popular adult wellness programs in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Helen has appeared on Eastlink TV's 'The Path of Yoga' and ‘Podium TV’ enjoys collaborating with like-minded wellness practitioners in food, sport and entertainment. Taking yoga off the mat as much as possible is her true passion and path.
