This weekend focuses on the foundations of teaching from the point of view of a graduate teacher. The concept of foundation is re-established and expanded upon as a teaching methodology and philosophy.

Topics:

Hatha Yoga: and more in-depth look at teaching back-bends, chest openers and hip openers. Participants lead asana sections with feedback.
Anatomy/Physiology: Spine and shoulder girdle. Anatomy of backbends.
Teaching Methodology: teaching techniques and posture assists for related areas.
Philosophy/Spiritual Practice: a) Trainings in Compassion and Maitri, by Mike Munro, based on teaching of Pema Chodron, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche. b) Non Violent Communication - Development of empathy skills as a yoga teacher and as students, by Leslie Hunter.

Times:

Friday eve 7-9:30pm, Saturday 8:30am-5:30pm & Sunday 8:30am-4:30pm

Main teacher:

Maxine Munro: B.Sc. OT, B.Sc. Kin, CYI, co-owner of Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio has been teaching yoga since 1997. She is a Certified Interdisciplinary Yoga Instructor at the Professional level (500+ hours). Maxine has degrees in Kinesiology and Occupational Therapy (honors). Maxine has been teaching students to become yoga teachers since 2001. You will love her down-to-earth accessible methods and approach. Maxine loves teaching yoga. Her enthusiasm and passion is apparent with each class that she offers.
