About us

about us

Established in 1997

Originally a small family-based business located on Coburg Road in Halifax, we outgrew our original space within a few years and expanded. Now located on Quinpool Road, we have two suites for our yoga studio and our sister business, the health centre.

Our Mission

Our mission is to share the skillful practice, understanding and love of yoga through all of our classes, workshops and teacher training programs. With almost 40 yoga classes a week, we have the style and the level for you.

TAYS is unique in its “therapeutic approach” towards the study and practice of yoga and we are proud to be one of the longest running and most popular 200 and 500 hour yoga teacher training programs in Atlantic Canada. Grounded in the intention of Ahimsa, the observances of non-harming and kindness, TAYS emphasizes safe and skillful alignment and injury prevention from both Eastern and Western perspectives.

Andrea Andriopoulos
Andrea Andriopoulos

Yoga has been a part of Andrea’s life since 2000 and her practice has helped her grow stronger, more flexible, and fearless, on and off the mat. Yoga inspires her to live each moment mindfully. In 2000, Andrea went to see her doctor for chronic back pain.  Her doctor said, “you can either take pills to help with the pain or start yoga.”  She left her office and went directly to TAYS, grabbed a schedule and never looked back. Andrea completed both her 200 and 500 hour YTT with TAYS.

She recently concluded pre and post natal training with Clare Newman from Mamata Yoga.
