108 Days of Yoga - Day 30

Bead 30. Jan 30th, 2013.

I notice that I no longer have to think about the guidelines for this 108 days practice. I am doing asana pretty much daily and meditating and studying regularly. It seems that it has reached a rolling momentum.

Today I attended Maxine's 9:30 am hatha vinyasa yoga class which was slow and warming. It was like a "slow simmer" hot yoga class where the heat comes from the sustained work and pace of what you are doing rather than from heaters in the room. I feel cleansed, toned and unwound.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 27

Bead 27. January 27, 2013

I practiced meditation this morning while the kids played for a few minutes. This evening I did some asana as well. Good to start and end the day with a short practice. Makes the whole day a practice sandwich.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 26

Bead 26. Jan 26th, 2013.

Today I studied from Anatomy of Hatha Yoga by H. David Coulter. I found an interesting quote to share as well. He says, in the first chapter "Practicing with total attention within the body is advanced yoga, no matter how easy the posture; practicing with your attention scattered is the practice of a beginner, no matter how difficult the posture." I couldn't agree more.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 24

Bead 24. Jan 24th, 2013

Today I practiced meditation for one hour. Noticing that my body feels different with all the asana practice. It's easier to sit still without discomfort and to focus my attention on the meditaton object. It had been said that asana is intended to aid in meditaiton practice, which is a verifiable truth.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 23

Bead 23. Jan 23rd, 2013.

Today I intended to practice in my office on my own yet when I got there I lay down in savasana and immediately fell asleep. I guess I was tired. So that meant a change of plans. Luckily my schedule allowed me to attend 5:30 class with Leslie which was great. I enjoyed the practice of headstand in particular. Leslie played a music track that was a recurring Om sound during class which gave the whole experience a timeless quality.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 22

Bead 22. Jan 22, 2013. The Path is the Goal

Today I did a combination of practices starting with pranayama. It was so cold that I needed to use the breath of fire (kapalbhati pranayama) to get going. Then I shifted into my asana practice, including side crow again, and finshed with seated meditation.
