108 Days of Yoga - Day 21

Bead 21. Jan 21st, 2013.

Today I attended a lunch time yoga class and I noticed that my shoulders are opening more easily in yoga mudra and bound parsvakonasana (side angle stretch). Yoga mudra is a shoulder stretch that I usually dread. Good to feel some space there today. We also did an assisted backbend in groups of three which was actually mind altering. So great to have traction in urdhva dhanurasana (upward facing bow). I fell a huge boost in awareness and energy coming out. Great class Maxine!

108 Days of Yoga - Day 20

Bead 20. Jan 20th, 2013.

Today I tried to make some calls for the charitable organization I support and could not reach anyone. I also sent some emails and got no reponses yet. Oh well! Will keep at that through the week I guess.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 18

Bead 18. Jan 18th, 2013

Today I practiced asana again for the forth time this week. According to the guidlines I set out for myself, I could take the next three days to meditate, study or do some kind community service. My intuition says that I should spend some time tomorrow in meditation and take time on Sunday to do bit of planning and make some calls for the charity I support. I may get the urge to do some asana as well yet I think it is healthy to shift the focus and make the other practices a priority for a few days.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 17

Bead 17. Jan 17th, 2013

Today I noticed what my body feels like practicing yoga after shoveling a lot of snow. When I showed up for Tomomi's 5:30 Power Basics class at 5:30 I felt stiffer than usual. My shoulders were less open so doing yoga mudra felt particularly painful the first time. Then as the class went on I started to feel a bit looser. Slowly by tightened body started to feel more liquid and more aligned. Hatha Yoga as a counter pose to snow shovelling: I highly recommend it.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 16

Bead 16. Jan 16th, 2013

Practice today was twofold. I am noticing that since I am practicing more regularly, not letting a day pass without some kind of practice, that it's easier to practice meditation in the morning. Perhaps it's the fact that I don't spend so much time making coffee, or just the momentum of practice, like practice inertia. I was up before the kids and did an early morning meditation and attended a lunch time strenghtening yoga class led by Maxine. Practice begets practice.

108 Days of Yoga - Day 15

Bead 15. Jan 15th, 2013

Today I practiced asana by attending a 11:00 class at TAYS with Jolene Dentremont teaching. I loved being in a room full of yogis moving, sweating and falling over(me) sometimes. It was challenging and fun. Thank you Jolene :)

108 Days of Yoga - Day 13

Bead 13. Jan 13th, 2013.

Today I practiced meditation, study and also a body scan. During the Eight Limbs of Yoga retreat I read from the Bhagavat Gita, A Walkthrough for Westerners. The book I was reading yesterday was 21st Century Yoga so it was quite an interesting contrast to read from a text that predates recorded history the next day.
