Andrea Andriopoulos

Andrea Andriopoulos, RYT 200, from Riverview, NB is the proud mother of two daughters who have been practicing yoga since they were only 2 and 3. After speaking with her doctor, Andrea started yoga in 2001 to help her with low back pain.  As her body became stronger and healthier, she soon discovered that her yoga mat was a place to find a sense of contentment, self-awareness and mind-body connection.   When she decided to enroll in teacher training, Andrea only hoped to deepen her own practice; however, the more she learned and grew as a yogi, the more her attention turned to teaching and sharing the practice she loves with others.   As a teacher, Andrea realizes that yoga is not a "one size fits all" practice and that every person is on a different path.  She tries to offer her students the opportunity to take that path in their own way at their own pace, to modify when needed and to honour how they feel at all times.  Sean Corne, Philip Urso and Debra  Williamson are some of the teachers with whom she has studied.  Andrea finds immense joy, satisfaction and inspiration in seeing her students discover their own personal yoga journey and hopes to nurture and encourage them along their way.

Helen Fong

Helen Fong is a dedicated full-time Certified Hatha Yoga Teacher, Certified Yin Yoga Teacher, Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, and Certified Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Teacher. She has trained in Halifax and Vancouver extensively with Bernie Clark, Biff Mithoefer, Barrie Risman, Bryan Kest, Cameron Gilley, Diana Batts, Eoin Finn, Maxine Jeffrey, Michi Morioka, Mike Munro, Philip Urso and Stephanie Guitar.

Helen's therapeutic approach to teaching yoga clearly benefits those who study with her. Her weekly therapeutic themes and community outreach through volunteering, social media presence and television appearances continue a seamless connection with others to her passion “to live yoga on and off the mat every day”.  It all began in 1998. She attended her first yoga class recovering from a motor vehicle accident while studying Neuroscience at Dalhousie University. To date, she has been a guest speaker at health & wellness expos, award-winning yoga instructor for 2015 Best of Halifax (Bronze Winner), 2014 Best of Halifax (Silver Winner) and 2010 Faces Magazine (Fav Yoga Instructor), written for a newsstand magazine (Tone Zone), interviewed for radio, print and television through The Coast, Kings College radio, CTV and CBC TV, as well as, appeared on seven seasons of Eastlink Television ‘Path of Yoga’.

Michael Munro

Michael MunroMichael Munro, B.Sc.P.T.(R), MCPA, certified Interdisciplinary Yoga Instructor (500 hours), licensed and practicing physiotherapist. Mike has practiced in the field of Physical Therapy for fourteen years and currently combines his yoga and Physical Therapy background to teach yoga and meditation with skill and experience. His background is beneficial in helping people of all abilities to find their personalized yoga practice.

His yoga training started in 1993 with Iyengar Yoga teacher Bev Windsor. He has since taken teacher-training programs with Don and Amba-Camp Stapleton in Interdisciplinary Yoga and has studied the Ashtanga yoga of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois with Tim Miller, David Swenson, Mark Darby, Hart Lazer, Philip Urso, Coeli Marsh, and Allison Ulan. He taught courses in Yoga Therapy to health professionals and medical doctors for Dalhousie University Continuing Physiotherapy Education and is a Certified Pranassage Practitioner, combining yoga and massage techniques. Mike and his business partner, Maxine, have been offering 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training programs since 2001, and 500-hour training programs since 2004. Mike’s backgrounds and interests allow him to teach yoga with skill, precision and a sense of humor.

He has been studying meditation and Buddhism since 1993, and has a genuine interest and educated view on the history and philosophy of yoga and the yogic path. Mike is a graduate of Nitartha Institute, an Advanced Buddhist study program taught by internationally known Buddhist teachers and scholars. He is a student of Tibetan Buddhist meditation master and scholar Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche and is the Canadian chair on the Board of Directors for Nalandabodhi Canada.




Abra Morrison

Abra has dedicated most of her life to the practice of movement. From the age of three, she began to dance, by the age of twelve, began to incorporate yoga with her dance training. Abra’s love of movement propelled her to complete her 200-hour Hatha Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training in 2014 with Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia and has continued her love of education with the 500-hour YTT programme. Abra obtained a BFA in Contemporary Dance and a Child and Youth Care degree.

Over the years, Abra has practiced and facilitated with various studios throughout the Maritimes. Her classes are strongly alignment-based, with the emphasis of breath and maximizing potential in a safe and open environment. Hosting workshops that span from introductory yoga to advanced education in back bending and inversions are one of the main focuses of Abra’s teaching career. Abra is delighted to be joining the TAYS teacher training team as part of the 200 and 500-hour faculty.


Maxine Jeffrey

Maxine MunroMaxine Jeffrey, B.Sc.O.T. (honours), B.Sc. Kin, Certified Interdisciplinary Yoga Instructor (500-hour), Certified Pre-natal Yoga Instructor, Certified Pranassage Practitioner. Well educated in anatomy and body mechanics, Maxine is a thesis candidate with the Collège d'Études Ostéopathiques after successfully completing 5 years of Osteopathy training. She plans to defend her thesis on GERD in 2020.

With her yoga career, she has studied extensively with Amba Camp, Don Stapleton, Tim Miller, Mark Darby, Hart Lazer, Coeli Marsh, and David Swenson. She taught courses in Yoga Therapy to health professionals and medical doctors for Dalhousie University Continuing Physiotherapy Education. She has continued to be recognized by Halifax readers of The Coast in "Best Yoga Instructor" category since 1999. Her education in Occupational Therapy, Kinesiology, and Osteopathic studies give her the therapeutic approach in developing classes and instruction at the appropriate level of challenge. She is able to modify postures and classes to suit all levels of ability. Maxine has been co-directing the TAYS Hatha Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training (200-hour) since 2002 and the TAYS (500-hour) advanced training since 2004, she also teaches a yearly pre and post-natal yoga certification program to certified yoga teachers.

Jolene d'Entremont

Jolene d'EntremontAsk professional yoga teacher, Jolene d'Entremont, what she learned from her ten years as a flight attendant and she’ll tell you.... “patience, patience, and more patience”. Ask her what she’s learned from her yoga teacher training and she’ll tell you; “the true meaning of being grounded”. Jolene is a skilled vinyasa teacher, an avid meditation student and an expert in prenatal and postnatal yoga instruction.

Jolene followed up her 200-hour teacher training in 2006 with additional courses in pre and postnatal yoga instruction. She has also completed her 500-hour professional level teacher training certification at TAYS and she is passionate about vinyasa yoga, which she continues to study with Master teacher Coeli Marsh. As a mother of three, including two at-home births assisted by midwives, Jolene brings enormous empathy and knowledge to her work with both expectant and new mothers. She has made it her mission to help women see their intrinsic beauty and to honor their bodies at these times of both incredible wonder and equally incredible stress. As one might expect of a mother of three, Jolene knows a great deal about sharing which is a wonderful thing for us as she has much to share. Jolene has been teaching vinyasa yoga and pre and postnatal yoga at TAYS since 2004.



Leslie Bishop

Leslie HunterLeslie Bishop, Certified Vinyasa Yoga 1000 hour and Yoga Life Coach. Leslie teaches yoga to students and trains yoga teachers from a place of Love. As a senior teacher and teacher trainer at TAYS, Leslie leads exhilarating and unscripted Vinyasa Yoga classes that are challenging, heart pumping and "ah-ha! Inspiring". Leslie incorporates Buddhist philosophy, mindfulness practice, and unadulterated joy into every class. Whether you are attending a yoga class or a life coaching session with Leslie, you leave feeling a new sense of awareness, focus, and inspiration.


Prashant Patel



Founder of Ancient Yoga Academy, with branches in Singapore and India, Prashant has been teaching Ayurveda and Yoga for over 23 years. in countries like USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Bali, Jakarta, Malaysia, Vietnam, India and many more. Prashant is a master of meditation, teaching a range of techniques from simple Breathing, OM, Cyclic and Pyramid meditation to the more difficult Dynamic meditation, Mantra, 5 Elements, Vipassana, Mindfulness, Chakra, Kriya and more.

Prashant’s extensive knowledge of yoga combined with his keen understanding of Ayurveda has enabled him to treat various psychosomatic ailments such as asthma, high blood pressure, back pain, anxiety, depression, arthritis, diabetes, digestive disorders, obesity etc. He uses a combination of Ayurveda, Yoga, Meditation, Mantra and Yogic Counselling that one gets only from years and years of study and practice. His keen interest in Ayurvedic Cooking has made him create innovative vegetarian dishes through ingenious blends, mixes and combinations of different kinds of spices, legumes, lentils, vegetables, just to name a few. Not only are these dishes, tasty, nourishing and healthy, they are also specifically aligned to one's specific body type as classified under the Ayurvedic body constitution known as 'Vata', 'Pitta' and 'Kapha'.


Jenny Sinclair

Jenny Sinclair, is a certified 500 RYT, Prenatal/Postnatal, Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra instructor.  Also the owner of The Yoga Barn in the Annapolis Valley. Jenny has been teaching for 9 years now and has been in love with her own yoga practice for almost 15 years. Her yoga journey started with finding a softer more gentle way to exercise while pregnant and then quickly turned into a life long journey of exploring yoga on and off the mat. Jenny tends to lean towards a balance between Vinyasa and Yin Yoga and continues to dive deeper into meditation and has fallen in love with Yoga Nidra. Jenny offers weekly vinyasa, yin and Nidra Yoga classes at The Yoga Barn,  to a forever growing yoga community in the Valley.
